FAQ

Will a winder fit my watch?

The walnut range and the Harcourt use a 360° elastic memory-foam cushion that adapts to almost any case size or strap length; the Marlow takes cases up to 50 mm. Every winder we sell fits the vast majority of automatic watches without adjustment. If yours is unusual, email us the reference before you order.

Will it damage my watch?

No. Every electric motor contains magnets, this one included — what matters is where they sit. The motor sits in the base of the winder or behind the rotor, away from the cushion, and its field does not reach the movement resting on it. Over-winding is not a risk either: an automatic's mainspring is designed to slip once it reaches full tension, and the winding modes rest the watch between cycles rather than turning it all day.

How many turns per day do I set?

Most automatic movements need between 650 and 800 turns per day, depending on the calibre. On the walnut range and the Harcourt, from the two-watch up, each rotor has a dial for 650, 750, 850, 1,000 or 1,900 turns per day, plus clockwise, anticlockwise and alternating modes, so you can match your watch's manufacturer spec. The Belgrave cabinets set each rotor from 650 to 1,950, and its direction, on the touch panel or the remote. The one-watch Whitmore and Hadley and the four-watch Marlow run four fixed programmes per rotor instead: clockwise, anticlockwise, alternating, or a long-rest programme. If you are not sure, email us the watch reference and we will tell you the right setting.

Do I need mains power?

Usually not. The walnut range and the Harcourt come with a universal USB-DC cable, and the Hadley and the Marlow have a USB-C socket: all of them run from any USB adapter or power bank you already own, with no region-specific plug needed. The Belgrave cabinets are the exception: they come with a mains adapter (100-240 V).

How long does delivery take?

5 to 8 business days from the day you order, tracked, and free across the UK. Orders are dispatched within 48 hours. See our Shipping policy for details.

Will I be charged anything on delivery?

No. All UK taxes are included in the price you pay at checkout — nothing to pay to the courier.

What if I change my mind?

You have 30 days to return an unused item for a full refund, and we pay the return postage — we email you a prepaid label. That sits on top of your legal 14-day cancellation right. See our Returns policy.

What if it develops a fault?

Email us with your order number and a photo or a short video. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 a faulty winder is repaired, replaced or refunded at our cost, and we pay the return postage.
